The Affordable Care Act, Explained is a project aimed at spelling out, in simple terms, some of the major changes brought by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law in March 2010.  We’ve created 13 30-second radio PSAs in both Spanish and English that each tackle a different facet of the new law, which are available, free of charge, to radio stations all across the country.

This website was created to be a further resource for folks who hear the PSAs to find more information.  Many changes brought by the ACA are still sorting themselves out, so we’ll update the site as much as we’re able with the latest news that affects the topics we’ve covered.

This project is a collaboration between networks of non-profit organizations from across the country, involving the Central Appalachia Regional Network (CARN), the Southwest Rural Policy Network (SWRPN), and the National Alliance for Rural Policy. The PSAs were scripted, recorded in English, and mixed at WMMT 88.7 FM, the community radio station of Appalshop, Inc. in Whitesburg, Ky. The Spanish versions were translated and recorded by the Southwest Rural Policy Network in Taos, NM.

The music bed for these PSAs was taken from “Baby Born Upon the Sun,” written & recorded by the handsome & talented Cory Burgess of Lafayette, LA.
